About Maureen Shea and Lighthouse Psychoeducational Services!

Lighthouse Psychoeducational Services and Maureen Shea, Nationally Certified School Psychologist and Licensed Professional Counselor offer an experienced staff to assist children, families, and other professionals with a variety of school neuropsychological services, always with the goal of moving children, teens, and young adults forward in life.

Failure is an event...never a person.

Ms. Shea
has more than 30 years experience in the field of school psychology, education, and counseling. Her extensive education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts; a Master of Education in Guidance and Psychological Services from Springfield College, Springfield, MA; a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from American
International College, Springfield, MA, majoring in school psychology and special education; and counseling and doctoral level courses in school  psychology with a concentration in neuropsychology of children’s learning disorders from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She also received a post-graduate certificate in school neuropsychology given through Texas Women’s University. With the help of this impressive resume of achievement, she has been able to realize her dream as founder of LPS.

LPS works with school districts, parents, educators, social service and mental health organizations, special education attorneys and medical providers to help these challenged children, teens and young adults on their way to successful lives.

Ms. Shea has utilized neuropsychological principles and techniques to provide comprehensive assessments, remediations, and interventions with pre-school through college age students.

“There’s a lot of brain research going on at the university level and through private organizations that can teach us how to maximize students’ learning that and behavior,” she says, “but that information isn’t getting to the people who actually use it – school systems, teachers and parents. Parents need accurate, up-to-date information, as do schools, if children and youth are to
be all that they can be. I want to close that information gap so we can improve outcomes and save money. In many schools there are limitations stemming from a lack of funds and staffing. Using research-based programs and services will ensure that the money is spent wisely and staffing patterns are maximized. I am committed to my own professional development so clients have the most recent and accurate information available. I understand special education laws and know what schools are looking for to qualify a student for special education services in public school systems.”

Please feel free to contact Maureen Shea directly by postal mail, phone or email so that we can discuss your unique situation. We can determine whether a complimentary free consultation should be made to further assess...
